This is my very first convertible and I ALMOST kept it after I found out it would fit both of my kid’s car seats in the back! However, also after realizing that we have about 20 1/2 vehicles between me, Jaime, and Dale, we decided to sell it. I applied to Cars and Bids and it was rejected!
If you’re in the market for a comfortable car that’s perfect for cruising around town with the top down, you might want to consider a Pontiac G6 GT Convertible. While it’s not exactly a sports car, this convertible has a lot to offer in terms of style, practicality, and value.
First off, a little history: the Pontiac brand was on its way out when the G6 GT Convertible was produced in 2009. They had some great models, the Solstice convertible, and the G8, which was an imported Holden from Australia, and for a moment I thought the brand might hold on. By 2010, they made a few more fleet G6 models and Pontiac was done.
The G6 Convertible was made for a few years during the G6 run. There were several options that could be had in terms of engines, and there was even a time that you could get a manual transmission. If you are littler, one of these, you’ll notice that it’s a little bit difficult to pin down exactly what transmission and engine is in each one. Ours obviously had the V6 and the old four-speed automatic with horsepower is somewhere in the 217-227 range. Even with this, the car feels quite slow and floaty like one would expect in a Buick. This does share the same Epsilon architecture that by several GM products, including a couple being produced today.
During my test drive, I found that the G6 GT Convertible is a comfortable cruiser that’s perfect for lazy afternoon drives with the top down. With two car seats in the back, my family and I enjoyed some leisurely rides around town, even though the car feels a bit slow and has noticeable body roll. Especially with the top down.
Despite these quirks, I believe that the G6 GT Convertible is a great value for anyone looking for a comfortable, stylish convertible that won’t break the bank. They’re relatively inexpensive and can be found in most parts of the US – for about $3500, it’s possible to find a solid example for daily driving.

Overall, the Pontiac G6 GT Convertible might not be the most impressive car on the road, but it has its charms. With its spacious interior and retractable hardtop, it’s a great option for anyone who wants a comfortable cruiser that’s perfect for sunny days.
